MAA KALI DANCING ON LORD SHIVA CHEST

MAA KALI DANCING ON LORD SHIVA CHEST

We have seen the depiction of Goddess Kali (another form of Shakti or Durga) dancing on the Chest of Shiva. And sure there is a popular legend associated with the same. The anger of the goddess is clearly visible. Shiva lied down his path to pacify her anger and when unknowingly she steps over the Lord she all of a sudden realizes the mistake and the realization pacifies him.
But then there is another subtle symbolism attached here. Look at Shiva he lying motionless, with eyes closed. He is absolutely calm as if in Samadhi. And Kali, the manifest of shakti is in terrible form. Shakti is vitalized; she creates and works. She keeps up the play (lila) of this universe.
And Shakti dances on the breast of Shiva. He is action less and changeless. He is absolutely untouched by the cosmic play going on his breast. His mere presence keeps up shakti running the world. He is the cosmic consciousness. He is in all names and forms and yet he is above all. He is without forms or attributes.

Shiva and Shakti

Shiva and Shakti are not two; they are just inseparable. They are complementary aspect of the same divine being. Understanding them as separate being like a man and woman doesn’t sufficiently explain the idea.
Shiva and Shakti are just like body and soul; identified as two and still are just one. Body is the doer of actions; it executes what the soul desires, it consumes and utilizes the energy. It’s all powerful in presence of the soul. Soul, on the other hand is inert. It Can’t do anything without the body or the energy of the body. Yet it is the soul that makes the body do whatever it wants. Soul without body will fail to do anything; body without soul has nothing to do. Shiva is the soul; its inert and dormant without the soul. Shakti is the body; its the doer of action. The body (Shakti) does what the soul (Shiva) wishes.. Shakti gives expression to the Shiva the way body gives expression to body.
Shiva and Shakti is together like an ocean. Shiva is the still water; shakti the wave. Without water there can be no wave. Without wave it will be just a still water . Together Shakti and Shiva is ocean.
Shiva is the transcendental supreme being; Shakti is the manisfested aspect. They are one. Thats it.
Adi Shankaracharya, has very clearly mentioned this aspect in the very first paragraph of Saundarya Laheri which goes like this:
शिवः शक्त्या युक्तो यदि भवति शक्तः प्रभवितुवं
न चेदेवं देवो न खलु सुशलः स्पन्दितुमपि।
अतस्त्वामाराध्यां हरिहरविरिचादिभिरपि
प्रणंतुं स्तोतुं वा कथमकृतपुण्यः प्रभवति ॥1॥
Lord Shiva, only becomes able. To do creation in this world along with Shakthi Without her, Even an inch he cannot move, And so how can, one who does not do good deeds, Or one who does not sing your praise, Become adequate to worship you Oh , goddess mine, Who is worshipped by the trinity.
It may be noted that when trinity hails a supreme being and worship – they essentially do it to Shiva and the Shakti as one and not as separate being.

**OM NAMAH SHIVAY **

Hymn to Lord Shiva

Hymn to Lord Shiva
No guru can give you realisation; this you can only attain for yourself. The guru can guide and show the way, but the disciple must do the practice. - Ashes of the Book 3, Dadaji

OM SHIVAM GURUM DEVAM
(Homage to the Auspicious One, Teacher and Absolute)

I bow to the Feet of the Naked Lord Shiva,
Whose Body is Pure, Immaculate Consciousness.
I bow to the Cosmic Power, Shiva-Shakti,
Manifestation of the Cosmic Consciousness.
I bow to Shankara, Lord of Mount Kailash,
I bow to the Feet of His Consort, Uma Devee
I bow to the Feet of all Tantrik Gurus

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA
This is the sunset hour when the Lord Shiva,
Mahadev, Lord of Destruction, Ghosts and Spirits,
Riding the divine Nanda, His favorite bull,
Goes through the World of men to observe
And with His Three Eyes sees the souls of men.
I worship the Lord in His form as the Shiva Lingam,
Symbol of His creative energy and regeneration.
There is none like Him, higher or greater
In all the three worlds of His creation.

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA
Those who wish to break the bonds of ignorance
And seek the attainment of Atma-Jnana,
Follow the pattern He has set for the disciples,
Even to be naked as He, the Lord of All Souls.
Though this fleshy and painful human body
Is only fit to be the food of wild beasts,
Foolish people still dress and adorn themselves
With costly clothes, ornaments and perfumes,
Mistaking the body for the real self or soul.
Such as they laugh at Shiva and His saints
Mock the Lord and His devoted followers
Not understanding that the real purpose
Is to teach the uselessness of the body,
That it is only like an impermanent temple
Whereas, in reality, they am pure divine souls.
Thus does the Lord Shiva go completely naked
With the body smeared with sacred ashes
Wearing matted hair and a garland of bones.

He teaches men to lose their regard for body,
Spurn the Quest for wealth, name and fame,
Expect no reward for religious devotion,
To seek only union with Shiva as Absolute.

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA
He, Mahadev, is the cause of the vast universe
And Maya (Illusion) is His Eternal Slave.
He is the Cosmic Absolute in visible form
Whose consciousness and deeds are inscrutable.

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA
I bow to Shiva Vishwanath, Lord of the World,
The Actionless Lord Beyond All Actions,
Beyond the web of duties and obligations,
Free and unattached like the Solar Orb,
Dwelling in cemeteries rather than cities,
In forest groves rather than temples
His is the Natural World beyond all shame.

OM NAMAH SHIVAYA
His Thousand Names are inadequate to describe
But when men know Him, they will have everything.

OM SHAKTI SHAKTI SHAKTI

About Lord Shiva

 hivo Bhokta, Shiva Bhojya
Shivo Karta, Shivah Karma
Shivah Karanatmakah
"

Shiva (शिव) is lord of the lords and it is really not easy to write/explain everything about shiva. However many have tried to explain him and praised him as per their knowledge but the explanation is endless and it is un-imaginable from a human being even devas, asuras and other rishi munis have very little words to explain about the lord almighty.
Shiva means the supreme one, the auspicious one, the pure one and for me the beloved one. Shiva is named as Pashupati which means the Lord of all living beings either it is humans, devas, asuras or any creatures. Another name Mahadeva depicts the great God, supreme in all devas(Gods).
The God staying in a state blissful, enjoying in Its Own Self eternally, without any flaws is the Supreme Lord shiva. The Perfection is the completeness - there is nothing external that is required to make the Self blissful.
Lord Shiva is reckoned among the Tridevas (trimity). Brahma is the creator, Lord Vishnu is the preserver and Lord Shiva is the destroyer. Shiva is the lord of Shakti also.
Lord shiva is absolute which does not have any parents  which never takes birth Which is all alone without association with any of the creatures or creations enjoying in the Self. God is the only one who is dependable for anybody / anything to surrender to as It is the only perennial Being.  Hence God is the Lord of all creatures (lives/souls). For this reason the Lord is hailed as pashupati (Lord of living beings). Whether it is devas or asuras or humans or other creatures all are pashus. That being the case how could the Lord be partial to one section of pashus and withdrawing the Grace for the other ? So anybody who worships the Lord sincerely could get blessed with Its Grace irrespective of the caste, creed, race, power, status and qualities.
It is in fact to be noted that Lord shiva is worshipped by the devas like viShNu, braHma, indra, by asuras like bANa, rAvaNa, tripura, sUrapadma, by humans like sha~Nkara bhagavatpAda, samban^dhar, appar, by other creatures like jaTAyu, sampAdi (eagles), vAli (monkey) and the list goes on and on. One finds in the purANas the variety of people of different backgrounds and qualities worship the Lord shiva. There are many histories of temples which talk of the cranes, bees, elephants, spiders, snakes worshipping the Lord and getting blessed. So the Lord as the Supreme blesses anyone who worships in sincere devotion. There is no discrimination on who the seeker is. The Lord is so merciful that He showers the boons one look for when there is a determination to seek Him. It is evident from the history of asura bANa who attained a great fame of his valor and got the place in the abode of Lord shiva all due to his determined worship of the Lord.
Lord shiva is the God of all. Like the mother He showers the grace for all the children, but the misusing children get punished. This Supreme Lord better than a mother does not withhold the grace, He is our beloved pashupati.
The God would not be biased. It would not differentiate between one group versus the other, whether it be divines or daemons or humans or plats or creatures or on sex or on race etc. All that matters is dharma and the pure devotion towards It. No doubt this lovely Lord shiva is worshipped alike by divines, daemons, scholars, not much learnt simple, and the other creatures.
